Gary Neville tells Man Utd who to sign in January transfer window

After Man Utd drew against Liverpool in the Premier League Gary Neville discussed the type of player Solskjaer needs to buy in January.Manchester United great Gary Neville has explained what type of forward his old side should sign in the January transfer window.

United drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon thanks in part to an opening goal from Marcus Rashford, who in a front two for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘s side.

But it was only United ‘s tenth goal this season in nine matches throughout the 2019/20 campaign, with the club’s attack a cause for concern.

Sky Sports pundits dissected the United attack post-match after the draw with Liverpool and the consensus was business needs to be conducted in January, with Neville discussing what type of striker United should sign.

“It won’t be a gamble in January as United need to go into the transfer market at the earliest opportunity because they obviously didn’t replace Lukaku,” Nevilletold Sky Sports.

“Those young lads out there – Pereira, McTominay, Wan-Bissaka, Rashford – they have to still buy to a style of play. There would be no point signing a replacement for (Romelu) Lukaku that’s the same type.

“I don’t feel they want to play that way. They have to sign a striker to suit their style. Liverpool play with three mobile strikers – with Firmino who does a brilliant job, even when he’s not going to get you 25 goals a season. You can find a striker that fits the style of play.

“I don’t feel Solskjaer is looking for a Lukaku type or a (Diego) Costa. He wants to play a more mobile three or front two.”
